About
Draig O'r Mor

Draig O'r Mor is celtic for Dragon of the Sea. She was launched as Seadragon & quite quickly renamed to Draig O'r Mor. She spent some years under the name 'Agility ' before reverting to Draig in the late 90's.

Draig is a Dehler 36 db 10 berth Cruiser racer with a proctor fractional rig and running backstays ( Sigma 38 rig). With the emphasis on racing, in her day, she was a radical design with her non-overlapping genoa, which is now quite commonplace. With modern sail technology she makes the most of her large mainsail but really comes into her own in breezes above 10 knots

She has a long history of offshore races fully crewed with both RORC, Jog & was sailed in the Petit Bateau circuit both single & double handed by previous owners.

We purchased Draig in April 2008 with the ambition to do offshore racing as well as local racing in and around Weymouth. We had a successful 2009 Fastnet campaign although plagued by light airs we finished 13th in class

Breaking out the rations during the Fastnet

With a new set of Quantum sails we are very pleased with her strong wind performance although light airs always present a bit of a challenge.

New for 2011 a Code 3 in Fusion MX Aramid Membrane and a Code zero full radial design cut from CZ laminate. If we are as happy with these as the previous new sails from Quantum Draig will be hard to beat.
